She was predeceased by: her parents, Dewey Lane and Mamie Young Lane Hunter; her sister Linda Boone; and her stepfather Page Hunter. She is survived by: her children, Sandra McMahan (David) of Micaville, Hobert Byrd, Jr. (Karen) of South Toe, Gene Byrd (Lenita) of Spruce Pine and Bill Byrd (Tuesday) of Spruce Pine; and her siblings, Glenda (Lee), Emma, Brenda and Ray (Polly). She is also survived by Sixteen grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild.
