He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel "Vance" Proffitt and Matilda Buchanan Proffitt; his siblings, Thomas Edward "Ed" Proffitt, Samuel Vance "Junior" Proffitt, Jr. (Jo Evelyn) and William "Bill" Proffitt (Marie); his nephew Dale Proffitt; and his siblings-in-law, Albert Lavagnino, Euranious Robinson, John Giles, Joseph Daigler, Jim Owens and Jane Robinson.
He is survived by: his wife Wanda J. Proffitt; his children, Robert Proffitt (Rita) and Amy Troutman (Greg); his grandchildren, Kirby Troutman, Dustin Proffitt, Luke Troutman (Elissa), Marla Almaguer (Rob) and Luke Means (Sierra); his siblings, John Proffitt and Betty Lavagnino; and his siblings-in-law, Katherine Owens, Georgia Daigler, Gladys Giles, Lola Stanley, Willa Dean Robinson and Alton Robinson. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.
