He was predeceased by: his parents, Elbert Phillips and Ota Sutton Phillips; and his siblings, Nora Ball, Lorena Smathers, Elmer Phillips, Burton Phillips, Jack Phillips, Kelly Phillips and Beecher Phillips.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Emma "Mimma" Phillips; his children, Deborah Phillips, Randy Phillips (Michele) of Burnsville and Andy Phillips (Ashley) of Burnsville; his grandchildren, Randy, Jr., Kysaundra, Patrick (Carrie), Mathew (Jenn) and Emily (Rohan); and his siblings, Corena Henline, Colene Rogers, Ernest Phillips and Mitchell Phillips.
