He is survived by: his wife Linda Sparks Herring; his children, Teresa Herring Dew (Edward), Warren D. "Rocky" Herring, Jr. (Jennifer) and Richard B. "Rick" Herring (Andrea); and his stepchildren, Melanie Harding (Joseph), Catherine Chaput and Emmett Chaput (Khira). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
