He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Cheeley Poteat; his children, Thomas "Rabbit" Poteat, Jr. (Cynthia Hatch), Jammie Poteat, Pamela Watkins, Vance Cheeley (Kim), Marvin Cheeley, Malcolm Cheeley (Robin), Darryl Cheeley (Tathia) and Sheila Brown; and his sisters, Mary Williamson, Wilhelmenia Yellock, Alma White and Jennie Graves. He is also survived by great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other family and friends.
