He was predeceased by: his parents, Simmons Stephens, Sr. and Alice Ellis; his stepfather Nelson Patton; and his siblings, Carrie Stephens Small, Phyllis Patton Grigg and Wayne Patton.
He is survived by: his wife Sherry Stephens; his daughter Sherry Truitt (Rodney); his grandchildren, Christopher Truitt (Jacquelyn) and Jessica Willard (Clayton); and his sisters, Dawn Patton Genest (Tom), Janet Patton Foushee and Juanita Patton Currin (Pat).
Visitation was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:15 PM at the RockHill Baptist Church (4363 NC-62, Burlington, NC 27215). A memorial service was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 3:30 PM at the same location.
