She was predeceased by: her parents, David Lee McKaughan and Addie Dean McKaughan. She is survived by: her husband James Herbert Shanks; her sister Elizabeth Stewart (Ronnie); her children, James D. Shanks (Kimberly), Karen Bass (Robbin) and Douglas A. Shanks (Glenda); and her grandchildren, Samantha, Jessica, Sarah, Jennifer and Lauren. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to AuthoraCare Hospice Home.
