John Dee Beckom Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John Dee Beckom (Burlington, North Carolina), born in Alamance, North Carolina, who passed away on April 17, 2025 at the age of 98. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas O. Beckom and Juanita Sutton Beckom; his siblings, O. T. Beckom, Conard Beckom, Bernice Cantrell and Betty Satterfield; his former wife Frances Somers Beckom; his wife Martha Wagoner Ross Beckom; and his niece Connie Woody (Ken).
He is survived by: his stepchildren, Theresa Lilienthal (Rick), Melinda Bradshaw and Michael Ross (Terri); and his stepgrandchildren, Rick Riley (Chelsea), Michelle R. Richards (Tyler), Hank Lilienthal (Lindsey), Hannah Lilienthal (Chris), Beth McGuire (Todd), Amanda Shoop (David), Taylor R. Lewis (Bryan) and James M. Ross. He is also survived by eleven great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, May 3rd 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:15 PM at the Rich and Thompson Funeral Home (306 Glenwood Ave, Burlington, NC 27215). A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 3rd 2025 at 1:30 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being made in John's memory to the Alamance Wildlife Club (https://www.facebook.com), Faith Christian Church.
