He was predeceased by: his parents, John William Hughes and Allene Sykes Hughes; his wife Shirley Byrd Hughes; and his sister-in-law Katie Byrd. He is survived by: his son Ronald Hughes (Tammy); his sister Joyce Patterson; and his sister-in-law Bessie Moore. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
