She was predeceased by: her parents, James Robert Thomas and Nellie Mae Hailey Thomas; and her husband Edward William McMasters. She is survived by: her son Edward Daniel "Danny" McMasters; her grandchildren, Tim Baswell (Amanda), Cheryl Neville (Greg), Raeonda Buirl, Angel Burk and Tillina Slayer; and her daughter Ingrid Laverne Robertson. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to New Hope Baptist Church at 1525 Flora Ave., Burlington, NC 27217, to honor Laverne's legacy of faith and community service.
