He was predeceased by: his parents, Duke Clayton and Doris Jordan Porterfield; his former wife Sharon Denise Clayton; and his grandparents, Charlie, Sudie Clayton of Burlington, James and Mamie Jordan of Hurdle Mills.
He is survived by: his stepfather Eugene Porterfield, Jr.; his son Donnie Clayton (Sharon) of Roxboro; his wife Linda T. Clayton; his daughter Penny Carter (Daniel) of Burlington; his granddaughters, Brandy Carter Straughan (Gene) and Ashley Carter of Burlington; his great grandchildren, Skylar Straughan and Weston Straughan; his siblings, Janet Clayton Hayes (Neil) of Burlington, Terry Clayton (H. B. Garrett) of Roxboro and David Porterfield of Myrtle Beach, SC.; and his niece Heather Hayes of Charlotte.
