He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee Vanuel Clay and Mary Terrell Clay; his sisters, Claudia Smith and Donna Faye Clay; his niece Charlotte Smith (Torya Clay); and his nephew Chris Smith.

He is survived by: his brothers, Michael Clay of Burlington, NC and Montie of San Antonio. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and great nieces/nephews.
