He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Claudia; his children, Brian and Charity (Collin); his siblings, Becky (Donnie) and Bubba (Joyce); and his parents, Floyd W. Cox and Viola E. Cox of Wrightsville Beach. He was also cherished by seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
