It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joab Frederick Johnson Jr. of Burgaw, North Carolina, who passed away on May 14, 2024, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joab Johnson, Sr. and Edith Hoover Johnson; his wife Emily Cashwell Johnson; and his sister Ann Hoover Johnson Dees. He is survived by: his children, Joab F. "Ab" Johnson, III (Stephanie) and Elizabeth "Beth" Johnson Collawn (Jimmy); his sister Susie Johnson; his grandchildren, Emma Ruth Johnson Tart (Austin), Joe Johnson, Emily Collawn Kruse (Alex), Maggie Collawn and Anna Collawn; his great grandchildren, Gray Johnson Tart and Jimmy Kruse; his siblings-in-law, Don Cashwell, Mary Frache' (Denny), Prudy Bradley (Larry) and Janet Holt; his caregivers, Ruth Halls and Barbara Raynor; and his close friends, Melvin Whitehead, Nelson Bland and Clifford White. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
