He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Rufe, Lula Hair (Blackmon), Marshall and Ruby Bowden; his stepfather Alexander Ryan; and his sister-in-law Ada Ryan.
He is survived by: his parents, Mary Lou Ryan of Spring Lake and Larry Allen Bowden of Erwin; his sister Tammy Lynn Bowden of Wendell; and his daughter Shaina Williams. He is also survived by six grandchildren and a large extended family.
