She is survived by: her parent Valley Cochran Buchanan; her son David Gunter; her wife Myrtha of Bryson City; and her grandchildren, Jessica, Nick, Megan, Sarah and Madison. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
