He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Bowers and Katie Bowers; his wife Elizabeth Bowers; and his sons, Eugene Bowers and Dexter Bowers.

He is survived by: his children, Betty Daniels (Floyd), Kathy Freedle (Steve), Wanda Lindley (Chuck), Lesa Lewis (Robert), Brian Bowers (Tammy), Scotty Bowers (Melody), Brenda Philman (late Steve) and Jerry Bowers; and his grandson Jimmy Lambert. He is also survived by twenty-eight Grandchildren, forty-three Great Grandchildren, and fourteen Great Great Grandchildren.
