He was predeceased by: his parents, Jim Taylor and Rittie Taylor. He is survived by: his wife Evelyn Taylor; his children, R. L. Taylor (Cheryl), Eddie Taylor (Bonnie), Cylena Hughes (Joey) and Melinda Shuler (Danny); and his siblings, Mack Taylor (Ellen) of Bryson City, Shirley Suggs of Sophia, NC and Edith Floyd of Summersville, SC..

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Gideons International at PO Box 2282 Bryson City, NC 28713, or the Silvermine Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund at 2370 Silvermine Rd. Bryson City, NC 28713.
