She was predeceased by: her parents, Hyman Hayes and Freda Lowe Hayes; her husband Verlous "Pete" Cody; and her siblings, Jack Dempsey Hayes, Tommy Hayes, James Hayes, Charles Hayes, Bob Hayes, Hazel Richardson, Ellen King and Bertha Bryant.
She is survived by: her son Verlous Cody Jr. (Penny) of Bryson City; her grandchildren, Michael Cody (Heather), Katie Cody Green (Ercell) and Aden Smith Cody; and her sister-in-law Peggy Hayes. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
