He was predeceased by: his parents, Benny R. Smith and Ila Whitesides Smith; his son Reggie James Smith; and his wives, Linda, Lila and Joyce Smith.
He is survived by: his children, James Cassidy Smith (Jennifer), Andy Smith (Patricia), Linda Walker, Elizabeth Melton (Roger), Donald Smith and Jesse Smith Jr.. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one sister; and three brothers.
