It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Betty Jean Mitchell (Bryson City, North Carolina), who passed away on January 17, 2025, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Edgar Edmonds and Rachel Eller Edmonds. She is survived by: her friend Brownie; her daughters, Pat Sawyer (Richard), Nita Payne (Charles) and Bavaria "Boo" (Mike); her grandchildren, John Raymond Sawyer (Cathy), Heather Herron (David), Amanda Hammock (Ricky), Tim Sawyer, Nathan Holcomb (Brandy) and Niccole Davis (Russ); her great grandchildren, John Robert Sawyer (Alexis), Samuel Smith, Rachael Merrell (Zack), Hannah Smith, Bryson Sawyer, Aubrey Pierce, Isaac Herron, Brayden Sawyer, Emma Herron, Willow Grace Sawyer, Jackson and Brinley Holcomb; her great great grandchildren, Annie Mae and Millie June Sawyer; her sister-in-law Clara "Teetle" Edmonds; and her siblings, Georgiana, Mitch Carson and Sandra Moore.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Harmony Baptist Church. A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers the family would love for donations to be made to Harmony Baptist Church to send Bibles to BEAMS in Betty's memory.
