He was predeceased by: his wife Bertha Smith Poindexter; his parents, Harvey Poindexter and Etta Poindexter; and his sisters, Coleen Huffman, Joan Hall and Myrtle Peacock.
He is survived by: his sons, Rodney Carl Poindexter (Teresa), Danny Wayne Poindexter (Terri Hall) and Steve Allen Poindexter (Dana); his grandchildren, Danielle Renee Poindexter, Rodney Carl Poindexter, Jr. (Julie) and Katlyn Kirkman; his great grandchildren, Lucy Jane Poindexter and Remington Carl Poindexter; and his sister Glenda Moore. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
