He was predeceased by: his parents, Carita Beers and Bennie Horton Sr.; his wife Ella Mae Horton; and his siblings, Debrah and Glenn.

He is survived by: his children, Lisa Horton-Thomas, Bennie Horton III, Cheryl Horton, Bobby Horton and Billy Horton. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and his nieces and nephews.
