He was predeceased by: his father Hubert Griffin; and his sons, Jerome and YuShawn. He is survived by: his mother Annie Griffin; his wife Joan J. Griffin; his children, Bobby (Tamiko), Terry Jr. (Jazz), Kenneth (Kanesha), Gregory (Stephanie) and Kenyetta Johnson; and his siblings, Annabelle Johnson (Thurman), Carolyn Griffin, Brenda Griffin, David Griffin, Melvin Griffin and Raymond McKoy (Ruth). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
