He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Shelton and Margie Wagnor Shelton. He is survived by: his wife Betty Hardy Shelton; his daughters, Catherine Jean Carroll of Broadway, NC, Sarah Ann Thomas of Sanford, NC., Linda Shelton Lowrie of Gatlinburg, TN and Brenda Shelton Wright of Cameron, NC.; and his sister Katie Russ of Southern Pines, NC.
