He was predeceased by: his mother Lena Mae Butler Diaz; his grandparents, Vester Lee Butler, Sr. and Omie Holder Butler; and his brother Tony Gregory Haire. He is survived by: his wife Ava Dalrymple Diaz; his son Joey Lee Diaz, II of Broadway; his sister Michelle Diaz Holland (Andrew) of Fuquay-Varina; his mother-in-law Margie Dalrymple of Broadway; his nieces, Erin and Alison of Fuquay-Varina; and his friend Jeremy Johnson (Bubba) of Sanford.
