He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Cad, Bessie Whitmire of Brevard and Ola Galloway of Brevard; his parents, Essie Galloway Whitmire of Brevard and Charles Whitmire of Brevard; his siblings, Shirley Whitmire Arnette of Brevard, Diane Whitmire of Brevard and Gilbert Whitmire of Hendersonville; and his son Chris Whitmire of Brevard.
He is survived by: his wife Martha Curto Whitmire of Brevard; his sister Ina Whitmire of Brevard; his daughter Tracy Jenkins (Kevin) of Charlotte; his grandsons, Brady and Andrew Jenkins of Charlotte; his stepsons, Rick Caldwell (Cristie) of Aiken, SC and Brad Caldwell (Katy) of Pickens, SC; and his granddaughters, Ansley Caldwell of Greenville, SC, Ellie Caldwell of Aiken, SC and Lily Caldwell of Pickens, SC. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
