He is survived by: his wife Judith McElyea; his son Luther Edward "Eddie" McElyea (Cindy); and his siblings, Katie McNeil (Marshall) of Boiling Springs, SC, Linda Horton of Spartanburg, Doris Cannon (Jim) of Spartanburg and James M. McElyea, Jr. (Frieda) of Inman, SC..
