He was predeceased by: his parents, John Russell and Isabella Mills Russell; and his siblings, Annie Brown, Mary Ness, Ella Robertson and David Russell.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, William H. Deanna (Kelly, IV) and Robert (Gentile); and his great grandchildren, Serena, Carson, Adison and Jaxson (Gurganious). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
