He was predeceased by: his mother Sharon Holbert Messer; his grandparents, Myrtle McMinn Holbert, Manuel Holbert, Roy Thomas Messer, Bonnie and Scotty Weatherman; and his brothers-in-law, Norman "Booger" Clayton of Hendersonville and Ira McPeters.
He is survived by: his father Don Messer; his stepmother Pat Singleton-Messer of Pisgah Forest; his sisters, Robin Messer Young (Kyle) of Pisgah Forest, Wendy Messer-Clayton of Hendersonville and Paula Messer-McPeters; his caregiver Alexandria Quinn-Cartier; and also Jon Overman. He is also survived by five nieces and nephews, nine great nieces and nephews as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to Boylston Baptist Church, Transylvania County Rescue Squad or Transylvania County SPECIAL Olympics.
