He was predeceased by: his parents, Fields Langston and Hattie Whitmire Powell; his wife Rosa Lee Ayers Powell; and his brothers, Walter, Pick, Stewart, Donald and Keith Powell.
He is survived by: his children, Diane Ayers and Robert Powell (April) of Brevard; his grandchildren, Kristen Champlin (Blake) of Greenville, Zachary of Brevard, Joseph of Brevard, Emma of Brevard, Nelson of Brevard, Ava of Brevard and Camden of Brevard; and his siblings, Helen Avarie Gillespie of Virginia Beach, Harry (Carolyn) and Gerald (Mary) of Rosman. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
