He was predeceased by: his parent Jacob Essenberg; his wife Marilyn Kay Essenberg; his sister Florence Heuvelhorst; and also, Max Heuvelhorst and Robert Veldman.
He is survived by: his parent Martha Degroot Essenberg; his sons, Don Essenberg (Caryl) of Summerfield, NC, Dan "Coach" Essenberg (Beth) of Brevard, NC, Ron Essenberg of West Jefferson, NC and Jon Essenberg (Jodi) of Wilmington, NC; and his sister Bernice Veldman. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, four Great –Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
