He was predeceased by: his parents, Flora Holden and Austin Baker; and his son Jonathan. He is survived by: his wife Sally Kemp Baker of Marietta; his daughter Margaret "Meg" Baker Buchanan (Travis) of Brevard; and his grandchildren, Gracie Carrick of Stokesdale, NC and Grant Buchanan of Brevard. He is also survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Brevard-Davidson River Presbyterian Church (249 E Main St, Brevard, NC 28712). A reception was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
