We are sad to announce that on October 1, 2023, at the age of 91, Charles Hurshel Owen of Brevard, North Carolina, born in Balsam Grove, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Harley Clingman Owen and Azalea Grace McCall Owen; his significant other Leona Carter Owen; his daughter Teresa Owen DeVore; and his siblings, Truman Owen, Violet Blythe and Jean Murr.

He is survived by: his daughter Phyllis Owen Robinson (Michael) of Canton; his son-in-law James E. DeVore of Mills River; his sisters, Nancy Spurling (James) and Joan Bracken (Leo); his sister-in-law Ruby Owen; his grandchildren, Monica Robinson (Josh), Marisa R. Caldwell, Jeremy DeVore (Wendy), Daniel DeVore (Courtney), Maurice Robinson (Lindsey) and Rev. Bennie Robinson (Jodi); and his great grandchildren, Madison Surrett, Avery Caldwell, Bryson Robinson, Collin Robinson, Brooks Robinson, Aidan DeVore, Libby DeVore, Carlie DeVore and Everett DeVore.
