He was predeceased by: his parents, George Ayers and Daisy Vickers Ayers; and his brothers, Jack Ayers and Jay Max "Pete" Ayers. He is survived by: his daughters, Donice Hastings of Rolesville, Sheila Ayers of Durham, Vickie Ayers of Shelby and Elizabeth Brown of Hendersonville; his siblings, Linda Eacho of Bostic, Sherrill Ayers of Bostic, Wray Ayers of Satellite Beach, FL and James Ayers (Mary Ruth) of Rutherfordton; and his sister-in-law Emma Sue Ayers of Ellenboro. He is also survived by four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
