He was predeceased by: his parents, George William Poteat, Sr. and Dorothy Reece Poteat; and his wife Denise Wood Poteat. He is survived by: his children, Lisa Hamrick of Rutherfordton, Dr. Pam Poteat of Forest City and Paul Poteat of Charlotte; his sisters, Cindy Booth of Rutherfordton and Dr. Amy Moye of Mt. Olive; his grandchildren, Carson Killough, Bailey Killough and Brice Hamrick; and his great grandchild Payton Trotter.
