He was predeceased by: his parents, Douglas Melton and Myrtle Melton; his former wife Ruth Goode Melton; his wife Annie Belle Melton; his stepson George Powell; and his siblings, Preston Long Melton, Eloise Stilwell, Loretta Lemmond and Helen Sue Melton.
He is survived by: his sisters, Margaret Cline Wert of Charlotte and Hannah Maurer of Charlotte; and his brother-in-law Fred Morrison of Waynesville, NC. He is also survived by 3 stepgrandchildren; and loving nieces and nephews.
