He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Proffitt and Virginia Winebarger Proffitt; his daughter Jennifer Proffitt; and his sister Kathy Taylor. He is survived by: his son Dylan Proffitt of Morganton; his grandson Elijah Brown; and his siblings, Joe Proffitt (Joyce) of Boone, Irene Norris of Boone and Elaine Greer of Boone. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
