He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence M. Lyons and Lelia Moretz Lyons; and his siblings, Eugene, Charles, Ernest, Donald Lyons and Helen Lyons Norris.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Hampton Lyons; his sons, Craig Lyons (Donna) of Boone and Scott Lyons of Boone; his brother Doyle Lyons of Radford, Virginia.; his grandchildren, Heather Lyons, TJ Proffit, Todd Lyons, Sarah Lyons and Holly Lyons; his great grandchildren, Caleb Martin, Thomas, Gracie Proffit and Jett Lyons; and his sisters-in-law, Lou and Rachel Lyons. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
