He was predeceased by: his parents, Conrad Cardwell and Sadie Pauline Smithey Cardwell. He is survived by: his wife Betty Jean Broyhill Cardwell; his children, Amanda Boyd (Brandon) of Mulberry and Steven Cardwell (Amy) of Wilkesboro; his grandchildren, Cole Shumate, Jimmy Cardwell, Garrett Shumate, Emma Sutphin and Madison Cardwell; his brother Robert Cardwell (Gladys) of Millers Creek; and his pet Peyton. He is also survived by four sisters.
