He was predeceased by: his father George Sims Franklin; and his sister Christy Diana Franklin. He is survived by: his mother Linda Earlene Allred Franklin; his wife Phyllis Franklin; his children, Marty Franklin of North Wilkesboro, John Franklin of Hays, Samantha Roark (Brandon) of Boomer, Heaven Head (Ruben) of Ferguson and Cindy Church of Ronda; and his sister Ginger Franklin. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren.
