He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey A. Long and Rosa Alford Long; his wife Faye Carroll Long; his sister Virginia Long Hall; and his siblings-in-law, Louise Hyatt and Joseph Hyatt.

He is survived by: his nieces and nephews, Audrey Harrell of Wilmington, Linda Ellis (Ray) of Bolton, Michael Harrell (Shirley) of Wilmington, Michael Carroll of Bolton and Stuart Carroll (Judy) of Lake Waccamaw; his uncle Billy Long; and his brothers-in-law, Leroy Carroll (JoAnn) of Bolton and Frank Carroll (Barbara) of Lake Waccamaw.
