It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Lee Slate of Bolivia, North Carolina, born in Augusta, Georgia, who passed away on July 16, 2024, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Lee Roy and Jane Floyd Godowns; her son Raymond Claude "Skipper" Bryant (Kayla) of Beech Island, SC; and her stepdaughters, Deanna Lynn Slate and Debra Lee Slate.

She is survived by: her husband Arther Slate; her children, Maria Slate of Grovetown, GA, Melanie Slate of Newton, NC, Michelle Masterson (Tam) of Aiken, SC, Tammy Bryant of Claremont, NC, Elizabeth Sexton of Castle Rock, CO, Michael Slate (Deanna) of Bolivia, NC, Paul Bryant (Pauline) of Hickory, NC and Arther "Butch" Slate II (Pam) of Front; and her sister Phaedra English of Augusta, GA. She is also survived by twenty-two grandchildren; and nineteen great grandchildren.
