He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Claire and Mamie Tabb Johnson; his wife Carolyn Hamilton Johnson; and his siblings, Claire Johnson, Mae Johnson and Virginia White.
He is survived by: his sons, Howard B. Johnson, Jr. (Mariesa), Stephen Johnson and Jay Johnson (Diva); and his granddaughters, Sara Quin Lewis, Kate and Kara Johnson.
