He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Edwards and Plumey King Edwards; his wife Velma Blackburn Edwards; and his siblings, Richard Edwards, Norman Edwards, Nash Edwards, Teachie Cheshire and Carrie Mae Watson.

He is survived by: his sons, Arnold Wayne Edwards, JD Edwards (Darlina) and Deryl Edwards (Darlene); his daughter-in-law Pamela Edwards Hamilton of Bladenboro; his siblings, HJ Edwards (Sylvia) of Lumberton and Annie Grace Willard of Tabor City; his grandchildren, Scott Edwards, Erik Edwards (Janna), Matthew Edwards, Kyle Hensley (Shaina Jordan), Nathan Pait, Sandy Durden (Willie), Mollie Lewis (Billy), Marianne Valentiner (Stewart), Dara Edwards and Stephanie Bryant (Spencer); and his great grandchildren, Walker, Will, John-Peyton, Samuel, Sadie E., Vera, Mae, Eva, Elizabeth, Etta, Karly, Evan, Sadie B. and Sanford.
