He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbur Smith Sr. and Lena Pait Smith; his sister Deborah Edwards; his nephew Wilton King; his niece Tammy King; and his sister-in-law Lee F Turner.
He is survived by: his wife Sue Frink Smith; his daughters, Rebecca Smith Chavis (Billy) of Mebane and Claudia Smith (Kristy) of Fayetteville; his siblings, Wilbur Smith Jr. (Brenda) of Bladenboro, Sherrill Kinlaw (Craven) of Bladenboro and Ruby Paone (Martin) of Reston, VA; his granddaughter Deanna Chavis of Mebane; and his stepgranddaughters, Katie and Elise Long of Fayetteville.
