It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Maxie Pope Duncan of Bladenboro, North Carolina, born in Columbus, North Carolina, who passed away on June 26, 2024, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though Maxie Pope may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Maxie Pope touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, James O. Pope Sr. and Nina Davis Pope; her husband Vertis Oneal Duncan; her son Mitchell O. Duncan (Mary) of Bladenboro; her sister Jacqueline Pope Ludlum (Bobby) of Bladenboro; and her grandchildren, Joshua Duncan and Kaelan Schultz.
