She was predeceased by: her parents, Kermit Poe Hester and Lila Mae Callihan Hester. She is survived by: her husband James E. "Jimmy" Avant; her children, Elizabeth A. Lari (Mike) of Shelby and James W. "Woody" Avant (Michelle) of Bladenboro; her grandsons, Wil, Jack, Nick, Dylan and Luke; and her sister Ann Walters (Guy) of Lenior. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
