He was predeceased by: his parents, Nealey Dowless and Sallie Davis Dowless; his wife Betty Melvin Dowless; his children, Gwenda Smith and Dale Dowless; and his siblings, Warren, Gurney Dowless and Gladys Pharr.
He is survived by: his son Ronnie Dowless (Peggy) of Bladenboro; his siblings, Harold of Bladenboro, Kenneth Dowless of Bladenboro and Sallie O'Sullivan of Elizabethtown; his grandson Clayton; his daughters, Catherine, Kimberly and Crystal; his grandchildren, Travis, Noah and Colt; his son Henry; his granddaughter Addie; his daughter Lisa; his grandson Jeremy; his daughter Carrie; his granddaughter Georgia; his child Ashley; his granddaughter Natalie; his daughter Amanda; his grandchildren, Emma and Ellie; his son Bobby Dale; his grandchildren, Luke, Joseph and Keana; and his great great grandchild Harper.
