It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joseph Oscar Rand Jr. (Black Mountain, North Carolina), born in Saint Louis, Missouri, who passed away on August 5, 2021, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Joseph Oscar-Rand and Helen Lanier Wynn Rand; his wife Elizabeth McMurray Rand; his children, Lanier Rand Blum of Durham, NC, David McMurray Rand (English Ray Rand) of Montreat, NC and Susan Elizabeth Rand of Swannanoa, NC.; his granddaughters, Elizabeth Hamilton Rand, Anne Lanier Britt Rand, Catherine English Rand, Ashley Gray Cox (Tanner Martin Cox), Savannah Christine Parker, Scarlett Ashton Parker, Amber Nicole Moss, Rebecca Auburn Moss and Susan Macie King; his great grandchildren, Cayden Seth McIsaac, Trystyn Ryan Tanner Cox, Kroix Joseph Cox, Olivia Jordan Cox and Hayez Logan Cox; his son Peter McMurray Rand of Asheville; and his siblings, Milton Rand and Laura Rand Baker of St. Louis.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Black Mountain Presbyterian Church.
